Anthony Melia is a seasoned professional specialising in work-based learning, commercial training, and quality and compliance, with over 25 years of diverse experience in various roles. As the Head of Quality, Risk, and Compliance, Anthony consistently showcases strong leadership and technical expertise, ensuring that all operations adhere to the highest standards.

With a keen eye for detail and a good understanding of best practices, Anthony is dedicated to meeting the needs of all stakeholders. His training career began as a retail management trainer, igniting a passion for providing similar opportunities to learners at Engineering Trust Training. This commitment to social mobility through training and apprenticeships is a driving force behind his work.

Anthony is a strong advocate for continuous improvement, tirelessly working to enhance the teaching, learning, and support provided to all learners. His ultimate goal is to ensure that each individual receives the outstanding guidance they need to thrive and progress in their chosen fields.

David began his engineering career as a researcher in the Materials, Structure, and Manufacturing Group at Harwell, Oxfordshire, working on an Industrial CASE project in collaboration with Rolls-Royce. He investigated defect formation during additive manufacturing of aerospace components and his research involved the design and operation of custom laser-based additive manufacturing machines, as well as materials characterisation using synchrotron X-ray sources. David grew up in locally in Kidlington later completing his MEng and PhD in Mechanical Engineering at UCL. He has experience teaching university students at undergraduate level.

Jamie started his working life as a Weapons Engineer in the Royal Navy followed by a career in the motor industry. He had a successful career in the industry, working in car dealerships around the Midlands for Ford, Honda, TVR, MG and Nissan, finally ending this element of his career as a Business & Finance Manager after 12 years.

Jamie went on to study Electro-technology and at the age of 30, became a father whilst also qualifying as an Electrical Engineer (Industrial). As an Engineer in Electro-technology, he began to work within the HVAC sector and gained experience in all aspects of engineering. He worked designing & building walk in plant rooms and control panels, which later developed into a role in Quality & Production Management.

He moved to Devon after the birth of his second child 7 years ago with his partner and continued his engineering career, initially as a Production & Quality Manager, then most recently as an Electrical Project Engineer.

Jamie brings a wealth of knoweldge and experience to the Training Officer role at ETT.

'My decision to come to ETT has been an easy one, I was already aware of the quality of the delivery and the supportive nature of the business and so, I felt this was the right company to pursue a mentor role sharing my engineering experience with others'.

Katie started her career undertaking a 4 year advanced apprenticeship at Didcot A Power Station. The first year was spent full time at Bridgend College in South Wales, followed by 3 years of block release before qualifying as an Instrument Craftsperson with a NVQ level 3 in Instrument and Control Maintenance and an HNC in Maintenance and Operations.

When Didcot A power station closed in 2013 Katie moved to UKAEA where she joined the team responsible for upgrading and operating the UK's Mega Amp Spherical Tokamak (MAST) and going on to study a HND in Instrumentation and Control Engineering. During Katie's time at UKAEA she was responsible for many aspects of design, installation and commissioning of MAST upgrade's distributed control system and safety systems.

After 9 years at UKAEA Katie joined the materials research and development team at Arrival designing, installing and commissioning automation systems for prototype before joining ETT as a Training Officer.

'I enjoy mentoring and sharing my experience with others and wanted to pursue a role that would allow me to do more of that within engineering and manufacturing. The Training Officer role is an excellent opportunity to do what I enjoy and challenges me daily’

Mark started his engineering career machining parts for the robotics industry. His career changed direction in 1986 with his Royal Air Force Aircraft Weapons Mechanic course qualifying with City and Guilds in Mechanical and Aeronautical engineering. Mark additionally qualified as a flight line mechanic.

After overseas service Mark completed further training to Weapons Engineering Technician developing his experience on Nimrod, Canberra and Hawk aircraft systems. He later trained in Airfield Ordnance disposal and with further study completed NVQ level 3 in Engineering Maintenance.

Mark returned to Oxfordshire changing career with Thames Valley Police, during his service he tutored student Officers through their 2 year probation. After 15 years he returned to engineering joining Jungheinrich, a global Mechanical Handling & Intralogistics company. As an engineer and supervisor Mark began to work within engineering workshops in the repair and maintenance of electric and engine powered forklift trucks along with successfully mentoring apprentices.

After 9 years, Mark took on the role of Service and Repairs Manager where his accountabilities included team management and he supported the engineering apprentices with their apprenticeship with the Engineering Trust.

Following redundancy, Mark joined us in 2023 bringing a wealth of engineering experience and mentoring to his role of Training Officer.

Mason worked for his local council throughout college while completing his Level 3 Graphic Design qualification, achieving a Foundation Distinction and Extended Merit. After finishing his college course in July 2025, Mason joined The Engineering Trust as an Apprentice Recruitment Co-Ordinator in August 2025 and is currently completing his Level 3 Recruitment Apprenticeship. He is excited to begin his journey within the organisation and is passionate about helping candidates find the right opportunities to support their future careers.

Millie joined us in June 2023 supporting our recruitment activity on a part time basis whilst studying Fine Art at college. Once she completed the course she joined ETT as an apprentice and works between recruitment and our administration functions.

Millie really enjoys learning and always pushes herself forward to gain exposure to other areas of the business. Her ability to learn new skills is a huge asset to the fast paced environment we work in.

I am really enjoying my apprenticeship and am continually learning new skills and really enjoy understanding all the software and technology we are using across the business.

An unknown fact about me is that I actually want to be a tattooist at some point in my career as I really enjoy fine art.

Steve began his Engineering career at Tyco Electronics Ltd, Bideford in 2001, where he completed a 4-year Engineering Apprenticeship. On completion of his apprenticeship, he was promoted to Production Engineer in the Electroplating Department, with day-to-day responsibility for supervision of the chemical laboratory, purchasing and stock control, scheduled maintenance, managing the water treatment plant, and continuous improvement activities.

He then moved on to the role of site Environmental Health and Safety Manager – overseeing the Tyco site’s environmental responsibilities and looking after the health, safety and wellbeing of over 300 employees.

In 2014 after being made redundant due to closure of the Tyco Bideford site he joined Greenfield Engineering Ltd based in Holsworthy and held the position of EHS and Training Manager for this precision sheet metal engineering company.

In 2017 Steve joined Group Training and Development (GTD) and qualified as a Training Officer before gaining his IQA certification. More recently, with ETT taking on the GTD learners directly, Steve has taken on the role of Operations Lead South West, leading the delivery of apprenticeships in the North Devon area.

‘Working with engineering apprentices is an interesting and varied role. Every day is different, and it is extremely fulfilling to help train and mentor apprentices to achieve their qualifications, developing them into engineers of the future’.
