Apprenticeship Costs

Employer Funding

The way apprenticeship training is funded depends on the size of your annual payroll and whether your organisation pays the Apprenticeship Levy.

Large Employers

Levy Payers

Annual payroll over £3 million

Employers with an annual payroll of more than £3 million can use funds from their Apprenticeship Levy account to pay for eligible apprenticeship training.

  • Use available levy funds for apprenticeship training
  • Support new recruits and existing employees
  • Plan training around workforce development priorities
Small and Medium Employers

Non-Levy Payers

Annual payroll under £3 million

Non-levy employers normally receive government support towards apprenticeship training costs and contribute through co-investment.

  • Government funding towards eligible training costs
  • Employer contribution through co-investment
  • Guidance from our team on funding arrangements
